The Lycoming-Bristol Titan is an enormous radial piston aircraft engine produced as a post-war cooperation between Bristol Australasia and the American Lycoming Engines. Its origins lie in the Lycoming XR-7755, a prototype engine project designed for American intercontinental bombers. Though the original was shelved, Bristol Australasia saw its potential as an airship engine for its largest battlefleet airship designs. It has a displacement of 127 litres, a 36 cylinder arrangement and normally produces over 5000 horsepower at sea level. Thanks to the use of an ultra-high performance turbocharger manufactured using Bluemetal, it retains a high degree of power even in the stratosphere. It is believed to be the peak of piston engine technology worldwide.
