The Object 172U is a prototype Soviet MBT that would later be adopted as the fearsome T-72, workhorse of the Soviet Army in the late 20th century. It is in essence a heavily modified version of the T-64A, though fit with a supercharged version of the venerable Kharkiv Model V-2 engine which is much easier to mass-produce than the state-of-the-art Malyshev 5TDF. All technological advancements added to the T-64A are base features of this tank, though the Object 172U has replaced its coincidence rangefinder with a new laser rangefinder, has mounts for explosive reactive armour and a bleeding-edge electronic fire control system (In OTL these features would only appear until the 1979 T-72A). According to top-secret reports by NATO's SOHCOM, Object 172Us have been spotted operating in Oceanyka alongside operatives of the mysterious KGB Alpha Group.

Unique Attributes

Monster of the Urals - T-72 UA

The T-72 would form the backbone of the Soviet Army during the devastating conflicts of the late 20th century, particularly World War III. Though vastly improved over the years, its armour was no match for many technologically advanced NATO weapons and suicidal aggression was often demanded of Soviet tankers.

EFFECT:
This tank and its crew gain the Dreadnought attribute.
