The Object 172M is a prototype Soviet MBT that would later be adopted as the fearsome T-72, workhorse of the Soviet Army in the late 20th century. It is in essence a heavily modified version of the T-64A designed from the ground-up for wartime mass production, though fit with a supercharged version of the venerable Kharkiv Model V-2 engine which is much easier to mass-produce than the state-of-the-art Malyshev 5TDF. All technological advancements added to the T-64A are base features of this tank, except for the turret's thick Composite Armour and remote weapons station, which this design lacks for economic purposes.
