The Type 24 Rifle, officially denominated as the "Chiang Kai-Shek Rifle" for propaganda purposes, is a Chinese license-built copy of the Mauser Model 1924 Standardmodell. Besides production standards, it is essentially the same weapon. During the Second Sino-Japanese War not enough of these rifles could be acquired to arm the Republic of China's armies, so the obsolete Hanyang 88 continued to be used.
