The Shenyang J-6 is a Chinese jet fighter, essentially a locally manufactured version of the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19 (Farmer), as part of numerous technology transfers from the The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in the context of the Cold War. It was introduced in the late 1950s and quickly became the backbone of the PLA Air Force. Besides some manufacturing quirks (a result of China's less-developed industrial base), it is mechanically identical to its parent aircraft.
