The Hunting Spear is a short spear fit with a tin bronze or, more commonly in the modern day, a wrought iron or steel spearpoint. It is usually about 1.5 metres long and is optimised for throwing rather than thrusting but can do both. These spears resemble traditional Aboriginal spears the most, and often times the only true difference is in their intended use.
Hunting Spear
Abilities
Common Attributes - Mechanical
One-Handed
One-handed weapons enjoy certain advantages; namely, that they can be used while doing something else, or wielding another weapon.
EFFECT:
Two one-handed weapons can be equipped at the same time and used without having to Change Weapon (1 AP).
Common Attributes - Miscellaneous
Hunter's Sight - Hunting Weapons
More a tool of hobby or work than an actual weapon, typically seen in the hands of wildlife hunters.
EFFECT:
This weapon enjoys an Easy DM to its hit rolls when targeting an Animal 🐾 that is NOT Sentient 🧠.
Stand Fast - Melee Polearms
Polearms are the weapon of choice for the disciplined warrior fighting in formation. For thousands of years, they had been the dominating force of the battlefield, and were only evenutally bested by the gun.
EFFECT:
Polearms negate an enemy's bonuses when performing a Charge (2 AP), instead allowing their wielder to immediately Counterattack (0 AP) the charger.
Additionally, they possess greater reach, capable of hitting targets at Close Range (when using real distances, this distance is reduced to 5m).
This greater reach extends to Overwatch (1 AP) and to their charge counter; the Counterattack (0 AP) takes place at the polearm's range and not at the enemy's.
Throwable - Throwable Melee Weapon
This weapon carries the spirit of our oldest human ancestors. It is as deadly in close combat as it is at a small distance.
EFFECT:
This Melee 🪓 weapon can be used as a ranged weapon (Reaction Fire (1 AP), Aimed Fire (2 AP), Overwatch (1 AP)) with a maximum range of Short Range.
Thrown weapons can be retrieved indefinitely by anyone unless the GM states otherwise.
