The Republic of the Philippines is an independent state in Southeast Asia, located in the easternmost part of the Malay Archipelago. Previously an unstable republic, and the site of many great battles in World War II, in 1965 it suffered a coup d'etat which saw President Ferdinand Marcos rise to power. His regime has been characterised by outlandishly obvious corruption and being a staunch ally of the Western Bloc 🦅.
