QAS, or Quick Access Slots, are inventory spaces that can be accessed immediately without the need for a Draw Item (1 APS) Regular Action. Items in these slots still have weight and otherwise behave identical to any other item in the game's world. It is recommended to distribute items in one's Quick Access Slots that will always be needed in a pinch, such as magazines and sidearms. There are two categories of QAS:
- Common QAS, which can hold any small item, such as rifle magazines, grenades, small tools, canteens, stripper clips, or bags of loose bullets. In general, anything which might reasonably fit within a military pouch, of the size and volume of two fists on top of each other.
- Holster QAS, which can hold a small weapon, such as a Handgun ⚡ or a compact Submachinegun ⚡, or a specific type of Melee 🪓 weapon. In general, holsters and sheathes fit a specific type of weapon.
These two categories are exclusive. That is, you cannot store a pistol in a Common QAS, nor can you store a rifle magazine in a holster. If the type of QAS is not specified, assume it is Common QAS. A Holster QAS is usually designed for a specific type of weapon and exclusive to all others. For example, a pistol holster may hold numerous types of pistols, but it cannot store a bayonet. Similarly, a bayonet sheath might fit a number of bayonets, but it cannot store a shortsword.
Items can always be moved from a backpack or the surrounding terrain to a Quick Access Slot, even in the midst of combat, but this requires spending APS by using the Draw Item (1 APS) Regular Action.
