🐾 Coal, the Lucky Shadow of Stonehell
Large Black Bear – Canyon Spirit, Adventurer’s Omen
A towering black bear with a soot-dark coat and eyes like polished jet, Coal moves with an uncanny silence through the southern canyons near Stonehell Dungeon. His massive form—nearly 600 pounds of fur, muscle, and quiet menace—is well known to those who descend into the dark.
Delvers speak of him with reverence. Some say he’s just a beast. Others whisper he’s a guardian spirit of the dungeon itself. Regardless, to catch sight of Coal before entering Stonehell is considered a powerful omen of luck and survival.
Offerings—dried meat, fruit, half-spent magic items—are often left for him at the cave mouth. He rarely acknowledges them, yet few would dare go below without this simple rite.
“Saw Coal this morning. We’ll be fine.”
