🛠️ Quartermaster Halka of Ember Bastion
“I keep the blood off the blade. Someone has to.”
📜 About
Quartermaster Halka is the gruff, gravel-voiced supplier who oversees the supply yard at Ember Bastion. She's a dwarf of advancing years, with the build of a retired mercenary and the temperament of a butcher who doesn't like small talk.
She is best known for her precision, her fairness, and her bluntness. Adventurers looking for charm won’t find it—but if they want a properly weighted crowbar, three days’ worth of bandages, and a map scribbled on a nail scrap, she’s the one who’ll have it.
Halka is missing two fingers and half an ear—a detail she never hides. When asked about the fingers, she always replies the same way:
“Debt call went bad. Child lived. I call it even.”
Some believe she was once involved with one of Ashkarin’s criminal syndicates. Others think she fought in a border war or faced off against a flamewight in the Stonehell fog. She never confirms anything.
Despite her past, she is fiercely loyal to Knight-Captain Alder Brandt, and is one of the few people who can tell him “no” without fear. She pays her dues to both the Wardens of St. Ras and the Disciples of Vaughn, and yet belongs to neither.
Adventurers respect her. Clerics tolerate her. And mercenaries swear by her gear—especially her infamous rationed lentil stew, which supposedly once kept a delirious warlock alive for three days after he'd swallowed a ghost.
