Marshal of Stables and Garrison Logistics, Ember Bastion
“Don’t mind the age—he runs this place tighter than most quartermasters twice his size.”
A lean, sharp-eyed youth of about fifteen winters, Kerem Derel oversees Ember Bastion’s stables, grooms, and adventurer accommodations with startling precision and a whistle that can scatter a horse thief at twenty paces. He’s often the first to greet new arrivals, scribbling notes in a worn writing book while directing animals, cargo, and tempers with equal efficiency. A short sword hangs at his belt—practical, not ceremonial—but it’s the longer blade strapped across his back that draws second glances.
That sword, "Rüya", once belonged to his father—Cem Derel, the Pale Lodge warden who fell during the doomed Stonehell incursion. Modestly forged but deceptively fine in balance and edge, the blade sits uneasily on Kerem’s young shoulders, more heirloom than weapon… for now.
His armor, chainmail a touch too large, bears the faint insignia of the Pale Lodge at the collar, and his battered wooden shield still carries the painted hawk crest of his father. Though young, Kerem carries himself with the quiet authority of someone raised by legends—and forged in their absence.
He’s quick-witted, proud, and has little patience for those who disrespect the Bastion’s order—or the memory of those who’ve bled for it. Don’t mistake him for just another stableboy. Kerem Derel knows this fortress better than most, and your boots, your steed, and your quarters all depend on his good graces.
