So You’re a Fighter?

⚔️ So You’re a Fighter?

Fighters are the backbone of every expedition. They are trained with weapons and armor, courageous under pressure, and often the first into the fray. Whether you wield sword, spear, or axe—Fighters are defined not by spells, but by steel.

You may be young and untested, but that blade in your hand is real. It might be your father’s longsword, an heirloom from a fallen watchtower, or a hastily bartered axe you barely know how to swing. What matters is this: you stood up, you took arms, and you didn’t back down.

🛡️ What Makes a Fighter?

  • Fighters have the best armor and weapon access of any class.

  • They gain steady improvements to attack accuracy and eventually multiple attacks.

  • They’re not flashy—they’re dependable. In a world where wizards run dry and rogues run off, the fighter stands fast.

  • You don’t need fancy tricks. You keep the monsters off the wizard, or cut your way to the treasure chest.

🏟️ Where Were You Trained?

You’re a beginner—but even rookies come from somewhere. Consider where your fighting instincts come from:

  • Shadehouse Commons (Ashkarin) – The People's Yard, where raw talent is honed before nobles and mercenaries. Public duels, militia drills, and back-alley beatdowns alike.

  • Iron Watch – The city’s formal guard. Discipline and drills. If you're ex-Iron Watch, you've seen real trouble.

  • The Pale Lodge – An adventurer’s brotherhood. If you’re Lodge-born, you’ve fought things books don’t name.

  • Bastion Guard – If you've served at Ember Bastion, you've seen what the wild really looks like.

  • The Iron Vow – Oathsworn elite who serve Ashkarin’s highest laws. Rare, but feared.

  • Street-Born – No training. You fight like an animal. You survive anyway.

  • Foreign Sword – Maybe you’re a northerner from Frostmark, a mercenary from Draxigar, or a broken sellsteel from the jungles. Your scars talk before you do.

⚔️ Fighting Style & Personality

Every fighter carves their own legend. Are you:

  • A former guardsman out to reclaim lost honor?

  • A tavern brawler who won their blade in a dice game?

  • A student of the sword with a code and a cause?

  • A mercenary who follows coin over creed?

  • A wide-eyed farmhand who joined the city militia last spring and never looked back?

Your style can be as simple or elaborate as you like—just remember, your first enemy might be bigger, stronger, and better. But you have one thing they don’t:

You’re not fighting alone.

🪓 Starting Tips (in-world flavor)

  • Ask about militia contacts. Some former officers or comrades may still remember you.

  • Consider a background feature like a dented pauldron from the Blackfang Rebellion or a barbed dueling ring from Shadehouse.

  • Tie yourself to a faction, place, or grudge. Fighters live by connections as much as courage.

🗡️ In the end, you’re not a hero. Not yet. But the sword in your hand could be remembered in stories—or buried with you in the mud.

Now step forward, Delver.

The blade waits.
