Slimy, amphibious humanoids with bulbous toad-like heads and limbs. Malodorous, flabby, hunched, and vicious. Their slick hides reek of swamp-grease, and their croaking speech is guttural and cruel.
Appearance: Sagging jowls, bulging yellow eyes, mottled green-black skin slick with oily mucus. They often adorn themselves with swamp charms—rotted reeds, fishbone necklaces, and tarnished trinkets scavenged from drowned ruins.
Behavior:
-
Pilgrims chant and gurgle prayers to swamp-born idols.
-
Guards enforce crude order and feed captives to their leaders’ pets.
-
Superstitious: Avoid certain shrine areas they believe “haunted.”
