Riftspace is a parallel temporal subdomain of the current spacetime continuum that is used as a form of Faster Than Light travel. It consist of a purely energy base realm where time passes much more slowly and space seems to be more compressed than in our "normal" space. Its generally associated with the Great Abyss since its believed that its only possible to be exploited while traversing it. Accounts of various supernatural sources indicate that the Asterians are the only ones who have the technology to exploit it, however its believed that when a person travels thru an Umbral Bridge they are indeed traveling thru Riftspace instead.
