While their involvement in the affairs that led to the war was limited, they were one of the Houses that were loyal to the Face Dancer puppets. As such even with the remoteness of their lands, not only did they suffer during fighting as troops took over their city, but in the rebuilding efforts afterwards almost no relief funds were sent, leaving them in a rather precarious position.
This forced the House to pivot and dedicate all of it's remaining resources towards fostering an academic center, which would be supported by the current Lord Commander as well. Many of their previous diplomats were brought back and turned into teachers expanding their curriculum with plenty of classes regarding Imperial law, planetary cultural studies, Landsraad etiquette etc.
