One of the most secretive groups in the Imperium is the
Bene Tleilax, an order of biologists with an almost cult-like
society. While many in the Imperium simply stay outside
the usual politics of the Houses and Imperial Throne, the
Bene Tleilax maintain very different social mores and their
own culture. Many in the Imperium find this difference very
concerning, even though most are unclear on what Tleilaxu
culture actually is. Anything different and mysterious is
easy to find frightening, however. Whatever the truth,
anything different from the Imperium norms raises the
possibility of breaking the rules and ethics of the Butlerian
Jihad. However, this does not stop people purchasing the
Tleilaxu’s (often highly unethical) devices and products.
