The waters around the island of Lastpoint crawl with a clinging, bone chilling gray mist. The crews of ships forced to sail through the Gray Tide become disoriented and confused. When—or if—they sail out again, they report hearing shrieking winds emanating from the center of the mysterious fog. No one has ever determined what lies at the heart of the Gray Tide, and few are brave enough to enter the mist in search of an answer.

The supernatural mists covering the eastern half of Lastpoint protect the island from exploration and invasion by outsiders. The city of Sanctuary is unknown to the outside world, despite featuring in many old sailor’s tales. Some describe it as an alabaster city on a hill, a shining example of virtue protected from the corruption of the outside world. Others speak of an onyx city where the Dark Six hold dominion. Others yet describe it as an unassuming fishing village freed from the bounds of time. Some say the city is not on Lastpoint at all, but another island to the east, hidden away in the mists. Even changelings who claim to be from the mysterious isle describe it differently, leading most to dismiss the rumors as myths.

Q: Is the Gray Tide principality open to trade and a place people can visit?  It seems like what little written about it marks it as a closed and insular society of changelings.

Singleskin outsiders aren't welcome in Lastpoint, no. They prefer to conduct trade elsewhere, with changeling crews bringing goods back to Lastpoint. With that said, you CAN visit Lastpoint. But you won't be made welcome, and you will feel like an outsider. It's a culture of changelings, for changelings. Identity is fluid, passed around between groups of people. Shapeshifting is used for entertainment, for casual communication, for practical purposes; as a static person you will very much stand out. And while the PRINCE won't stop you from venturing into Lastpoint, they also won't make any effort to protect you from grifters, pickpockets, or other criminals to whom you will quickly become a big shining target.

So it's not that singleskins aren't ALLOWED on Lastpoint, and there ARE permanent residents who aren't changelings (though many make use of hats of disguise or similar magic so they can participate in the culture). But they definitely don't WELCOME outsiders and don't encourage them to come to Lastpoint.
