Jaasakah means “Deadly” in the Orcish tongue. The Jaasakah occupy the eastern Labyrinth and the area immediately surrounding the eastern exits. They are led by the half-orc kizshmit Svash Ramaal (male half-orc ghaash’kala kizshmit, he/him), and the human sar’malaan Gan’dal Homm (male human ghaash’kala sar’malaan, he/him). Their fortress is Jaasakah Dar, a fortified structured sprawled across the top of the eastern Labyrinth, visible for miles around and drawing fiends like moths to a flame.

The Jaasakah are also the northernmost tribe, and the closest to Ashtakala. This makes them more brutal than the other tribes, as their proximity to Ashtakala means they must most often deal with fiends rather than the Carrion Tribes.

Clan Jaasakah are the roar that leads the charge; the cracked axe that never breaks. The unyielding warriors hold the eastern front as they hunt the Lords of Dust with zeal. Their proximity to Ashtakala places them in the most dangerous position of all; any fiends traveling to the demon city must pass through Jaasakah land - including powerful prakhutu. The Jaasakah see this as an exciting competition.

Their clanhold - ‘The Precipice’ - is built across a towering mesa in a Risian zone that stifles injury and preserves the dying. The fortress draws nearby fiends like a flame - and that’s exactly how the Jasaakah like it. Upon ritually joining the ranks of the dead, each kala is given an intricate pattern of brands and tattoos that covers their back, channeling their righteous fury into endurance and strength. The result, when coupled with the manifest zone of their home, is that Jaasakah fighters shrug off wounds while carving through fiends like a whirlwind.

Despite their harsh way of life, the clan maintains a strong sense of community through friendly competition, devout piety, and pre-battle rituals that stir the kala into a frenzy. A Jaasakah never hesitates to take blows if it means saving a clanmate, but will happily scream insults at them afterwards in a sparring match. In the icy Precipice, the Jaasakah’s flame burns brightest of all.

The Precipice

Clan Jaasakah’s frigid bastion sprawls across the heights of the eastern Labyrinth. Visible for miles around, the Precipice is an insult to the denizens of the Wastes, taunting them with unbreakable walls and iron spirit. The Jaasakah Dar lies on a long plateau with commanding views of the Labyrinth around it. Surrounded by sheer cliffs on either side, the only entrances to the Precipice lie at each end of the plateau, behind ranks of barricades, traps, craters and switchbacks. Countless remnants of past assaults lie scattered before the vast gates - and broken at the bottom of the plateau cliffs.

The fortress itself is stark and built of dark rock supported by the unbreakable divine material known as songsilver. Turrets rise at each corner, manned by sentries that keep vigilant watch for flights of vrocks or incoming attacks. Countless arrow slits provide views of the open killing fields before each gate, which can be opened quickly to turn the tides – for the Jaasakah are never content to hide behind their walls of stone.

Inside the Precipice

Far from the heat of Maruk Dar, the Precipice sits in a chilly manifest zone to Risia – the Plain of Ice. Aside from dampening local temperatures, the zone applies a preservation effect; wounds that normally pour with blood instead just trickle, while food can last for years without decay. The Jaasakah use this to great effect. Knowing that their wounds are far less likely to be fatal, each warrior hurls themselves into battle without remorse or hesitation. The zone has the side effect of stifling the fiendish wounds of barbed devils and other fiends. It’s only when a Jaasakah warrior sporting several ‘fatal’ wounds hurls them off the Precipice that the forces of the Lords of Dust regret their choices.

The interior of the Precipice is a defensive nightmare. The outer layers of the fortress consist of layered chokepoints and trapped corridors that can be yielded to invaders at little cost. Secret passages allow defenders to move between the layers, constantly threatening pincer attacks. Beyond, the heart of the fortress is a thriving city of workshops, communal kitchens and stone chambers. Below the cavernous central hall where people gather and share meals lie the Binding Coils the largest Divine Affection of the Jaasakah. The Coils channel the effects of the manifest zone, drawing the Plain of Ice closer to the chamber that holds it. Within that space, any creature that would die instead falls into stasis, as though they were in Risia itself. With morbid practicality, half the chamber is a field hospital, while the other stores food - a critical resource for their innumerable sieges. This helps the Jaasakah’s violent reputation, for they kill anything they can bring back to eat. A kala never fights on an empty stomach.

Siege Stasis. Below the cavernous central hall where the people gather and share meals lie the Binding Coils - the largest Divine Affection of the Jaasakah. With morbid practicality, half of the chamber is partitioned off as a field hospital, while the other serves as a storage area for food. In this way, the Jaasakah maintain a constant store of supplies - a critical resource for their innumerable sieges. The fact that they can store food for indefinite periods contributes to the Jaasakah’s violent reputation, for they happily kill anything they can reasonable bring back to eat. After all, a kala never fights on an empty stomach.
