Stonespur island features short, scrubby grasses on its southern peninsula and harsh, glacier-filled mountains in its northern expanse. The southern tundra is home to domesticated grazing animals while the northern mountains have been left alone for thousands of years. The local mythology is full of warnings about the terrible beasts that live there, although a few explorers have tried to uncover prehistoric ruins hidden in the ice. Thus far, expeditions have turned back or worse, never returned.
