Merna

Continent

Between the two dangerous continents of Fairy's Rest and the Savage Lands, is the green, watery paradise of Merna, Home to most aquatic races and some other beast folk, Merna is a relatively peaceful nation that has managed to avoid conflicts and wars. Home to many Tritons, Sea Elf, Lizardfolk, and Merfolk people, the nation of Merna is somewhat of a touristic destination for wealthy travelers. During the 2nd era, Unknown tried to invade it, but quickly realized that the trouble was definitely not worth the gains, as its jungle forests and swamps, along with its submerged interior hold little value to the empire, while its defendants showed combat superiority in naval warfare. A few attempts were made by Orc raiders from the Savage Lands, only to be met with the same disappointing results. Since then, Merna was left alone and become a peaceful destination, away from wars and politics. However, those who come from there, know it's far from perfect. Merna's citizens have their inner problems, as the island has little law enforcement and often its tribes fight for locations.

Geography

Merna is an oval ring of land, around a large body of seawater. The ring consists of jungle forests and swamps with few mountains, mostly at the south and north parts. In the middle of the inner part lies a single mountain and Merna's capital city. The climate is always very humid and 75% of the year quite hot.

Government

Merna is ruled by the Slithis Dynasty, a family of Merfolk with exceptional magic powers. Their dynasty has ruled Merna since ancient times. The Slithis however are not very concerned with matters of local importance. Conflicts between tribes often occur, and the island is split into territorial areas of ruling. All tribes and settlements pay tribute to the Slithis.

Demographics

Many Sea elves live in Merna, and a decent amount of Tritons surface from the ocean to live there for some time. Few lizardfolk that flee the Savage Lands also made their homes here. The rest (which is also the majority) are Merfolk people.

Trivia

The inner water part of Merna houses underwater cities that occasionally become exposed when the water level drops enough.
