Description

Blight Elves were elves who delved into the Shadow Realm for too long. That demiplane created by Izalith had strange effects on all mortals. Elves were quite good at adapting to many magic anomalies. They were the only races that managed to dwell for a long time inside that plane. That did not come without a cost, though. Some become frail, others fell sick, many lost their hair and all had their skin turn into a sickly blighted ashen-tone. After the fall of the Golden Sands, few of them returned to Arda, despite knowing they will be blamed. The majority decided to stay in Izalith's realm, even thought she cared little for that plane. Zeriax to a liking on them and offered them the means to survive in that hostile plane in exchange for loyalty. Blight Elves reminisce their past lives under the warm sunlight and the music of the forest, as they now live with regret away from their kin. They have harnessed some powers from that wretched place, but the Shadow Realm, along with Zeriax's gift, take a toll on their soul, creeping darkness into their hearts.

Origins

Blight Elves were originally elves made by Laia, but Zeriax gifted them the powers to withstand the corruption and corrosion of the Shadow Realm, ultimately shaping their form.

Genetics

Due to the prolonged expose of the Shadow Realm, they have developed necrotic resistance. Blight Elves tend to walk the line between neutrality and evil most of the time, struggling to hold back the darkness that Zeriax and that plane has injected their hearts. Those who manage to remain good aligned, are often appointed as leaders of societies.

Reputation

Along with several others, Blight Elves were blamed for the fall of the Golden Sands. While the rest of their kin has forgiven them, many other races have not. Among most nations, a shadar-kai is expected to be repenting and be altruistic, to atone for the sins of their ancestors.

Shadar-Kai traits

As a shadar-kai, you have the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase: Your Constitution score increases by 1

Creature Type: You are a Humanoid. You are also considered an elf for any prerequisite or effect that requires you to be an elf.

Size: You are Medium.

Speed: Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Blessing of Zeriax: As a bonus action, you can magically teleport up to 40 feet to an unoccupied space you can see, you then take necrotic damage equal to a roll of your hit die. This damage cannot be reduced. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Starting at 3rd level, you also gain resistance to all damage when you teleport using this trait. The resistance lasts until the start of your next turn. During that time, you appear ghostly and translucent.

Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Fey Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the charmed condition on yourself.

Keen Senses: You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Necrotic Resistance: You have resistance to necrotic damage.

Trance: You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which you retain consciousness.

Languages: Your character can speak, read and write (writing requires INT score 6 or higher) Common and Elvish.
