The Equaviis are a quadruped mammalian species originating from the Aq' Torpaklari System System. Equivaii are easily recognizable by their towering height and bright mane-plumage, with feather coloring determined by matrilineal genetics tracing back to biome differences among homeworlds in the Aq' Torpaklari System. The Equaviis culture reveres fine craftsmanship, and the personal ornamentation of each Equavii, called "bekameanas", conveys a wealth of information about the identity, history, and status of the wearer.
The Equaviis were a founding member species of the Federation.
