Founding
Prior to the Empire's founding, the southwestern regions of the continent were known as the Silver Kingdoms, named because of their vast wealth of natural resources and arable land. On the eve of the Empire's founding there were nine kingdoms in the region: five were ruled by dragon-kings, two had human leaders, one was ruled by a spirit of the forest, and one by a spirit of the mountains.
On the day of the Spring Equinox of 312 D.H. a person appeared in the court of Siyaromerhavot, who was believed to be
the strongest of the dragon-kings in the region. The person introduced
themselves as
an Emissary of The Light, slew the dragon, and announced the founding of The Radiant Empire, a
nation for humankind, where no human would be expected to bow to a dragon.
As part of the proclamation, they renamed the city of Siyaril to Luah Mirai, and declared it the capital of the new empire.
Over the next decade, the Empire expanded to encompass all the Silver Kingdoms. Some of the kingdoms were taken by force, while others joined the Empire through diplomatic treaties. In total it is said that The Emissary had slain over a dozen dragons throughout the decade-long campaign.
With the expansion over, in the Summer of 322 D.H., The Emissary presented a child to the people of Luah Mirai, an infant girl with golden hair and golden eyes. The Emissary proclaimed that she would succeed them as ruler of the Empire when she came of age, and declared the rules for succession for the Empire's throne for future generations.
Once the child came of age, she was crowned under the name of Empress Serina Miyalai I, and The Emissary was never seen nor heard of since.
