Your Skills are a combination of learned theory and practical experience. As such, you should see them as complementing your raw Attributes, not the other way around. Skill rolls represent a conscious and deliberate application of your competence, as opposed to Saves, which represent an instinctual reaction.

Every time you put a point in a Skill, its rank goes up by one, to a maximum of six. Each rank corresponds to a die size, as shown below.

Skill rank
Die Size
1 d4
2 d6
3 d8
4 d10
5 d12

At character creation

  • You are given 10 points to spread between skills.
  • Each Path has a specific list of Path skills, one of which can be made your core skill. At character creation, a core skill can be raised up to rank 3, Path skills up to rank 2, and other skills to rank 1.
  • After character creation, you cannot raise any skill’s rank more than once per level.
