King Aelle and the others challenge King Cwichelm of the Angles in his claim to be bretwalda. They muster their armies, join up, and march northward. They meet at the Battle of Hertford.
The Angles are driven from the field and the battle is a victory for King Ælle who reclaims Hertford.
