Festivals and Holidays

The following festivals are celebrated in Rexendell and Iozaria in general:

  • Day of Rebirth, 1st of Azunius - Month of Snow, celebration of the coming of the new year. People make resolutions for the new year and many families feast together.
  • Midwinter Feast, 15th of Azunius - Month of Snow, a feast being held all over Rexendell, not so much in the southern parts of Iozaria, considering the climate. It marks the midpoint between fall and spring, the festival dates back hundreds of years to when the world was young, and the prime races' generosity and help to the more primitive races that would not have survived the winter without their help. Some of the bigger cities also have a festival in town in addition to the feast.
  • Life Day, 12th of Bavus - Month of Spring, a celebration of life and rebirth after the winter is over. Marked by feasts, activities and more. Many vendors in bigger cities have discounted potions, produce and various items on this day.
  • Warrior's Festival, 18th of Bavus - Month of Spring, the city of Khuzunzan celebrates the defeat of the beholder that resided under the mountain in the early days of the city. Is marked by a massive feast with a lot of drinking. Think Oktoberfest dialled up to 11.
  • Celebration of Adea, 21st of Adeus - Month of Magic, a celebration of the god Adea and her acoomplishment of bringing magic and knowledge into the world. Marked by a big parade in the city of Tempervale.
  • Day of the Sun, 21st of Ilus - Month of Sun, the marking of the sun being the highest in the sky and the day being the longest. Celebrated around the world with festivals adorned by various depictions of the sun, and some of the bigger cities have a big carnival with fire dancers, acrobatic feats and various magical shows.
  • Heritage day, 5th of Daenus - Month of Moon, a day marked around the continents to celebrate and remember your family, where you come from and how you got where you are. Mostly marked by a feast within families.
  • Midsummer Festival, 16th of Daenus - Month of Moon, mostly celebrated in the elven communities, with the emergence of the fey-descended races from the feywild, thousands of years ago. Elves in Eilian usually give thanks by making a pilgrimage to the Yearning Waters in the Bloodwoods to give offerings to the elven gods.
  • Harvest Festival, 9th-10th of Movus - Month of Harvest, after months of working on the crops and the fields, the Harvest Festival celebrates... the harvest! Usually a two day celebration with lots of games and activities, a communal feast and of course a big market where people can purchase fresh produce of various kinds. It is also to give thanks to the farmers who provide food for everyone.
  • Festival of Champions, 13th of Nuesus - Month of Rain, a big fighting tournament held in Ravenforge, celebrating the prowess of the most capable fighters. The winner of the tournament is celebrated by a big feast, and is rewarded a piece of land outside of the city.
  • Day of the Dead, 31st of Udus - Month of Mist, a day celebrating the deceased family members, marked by giving thanks to the god Mova for guiding the souls to the afterlife and further to the domain of the souls patron. It is said that generally a lot less people pass away on this day...
  • Frostfall, 26th of Eyus - Month of Frost, a celebration of family and community, mostly marked by giving gifts to each other, and gather together in the evening to have a family feast.
