Hag

Hags are crones who represent corruption of ideals and goals, and they delight in seeing the innocent and good brought low. They are inhuman monsters, their forms twisted by evil. Shapechangers and blasphemers, they ally with other hags to form magical covens with extra powers. They collect and remember secret knowledge that is better lost and forgotten. Desperate mortals come to them looking for advice, only to have their requests fulfilled in ways that bring great suffering to themselves and their loved ones.

Research

  • DC 10 - "All hags have a lesser immortality, meaning old age will not slay them, but they can be struck down like any other creature. They are fey, but not a part of the Fey Realm. They are the perversion of motherhood and love. Do not look at them as women or even humanoid. Do not get confused. There is nothing to redeem. They are like any other monster that needs to be exterminated. Either they are destroyed, or all that is beautiful and wholesome, all the things that make life worth the pain, will fall into the evil dark." - Olamide Yoruba They worship an old goddess called Cegilune. It is a lesser god, mistakenly believed to be a goddess of the moon, but is in fact a goddess of night.
  • DC 12 - Hags may form covens to work together. A coven is always three hags, no more, no less. As long as the coven is close to eachother they share their magic between them and become more powerful and dangerous.
  • DC 17 - Contrary to rumors, hags do not reproduce by eating babies and then having their own. A hag will reproduce the old fashioned way and then replace a humanoid baby with her own. She will then eat the swapped baby to dispose of it. A hag can reproduce with just about any humanoid, goblinoid, or ogroid and generally choose a mate based on their bloodline or social and political power. Though most hags could take a mate by force, most will not. The reasons are varied but an old sylvan saying translates into, “there is no potion, no word, nor aphrodisiac like trickery!”
  • DC 21 - Hags are very superstitious, and will see meaning in many innocuous events. Hags are deathly afraid of being accused of loving something or someone, as it is seen as the ultimate betrayal amongst hags, and those proven to be "infected by love" as hags calls it, are hunted down and torn to shreds. Hags consider love as a type of disease that needs to be eradicated before it spreads. Hags are especially afraid of eclipses and other celestial events.
