Fujin

God of Wind
Primus Deity

Fujin, the revered god of Wind, was born from the essence of Unknown and Unknown. Alongside his brother Raijin -- the god of lightning -- they ensure the delicate balance of the natural world through the eternal dance of wind and lightning, symbolizing the perfect harmony of opposing forces. Fujin’s mastery of the wind element has earned him deep respect throughout the Y’azi Empire, particularly among the Unknown, who seek to emulate his understanding of the wind’s role in both creation and destruction.

Raijin and Fujin are unique even amongst the Unknown, having survived The Aeonic Struggle when many of the Unknown Gods and True Dragon fell in the great war with the Elementari. Unlike the True Dragon of the second age, who were created by the gods, Raijin and Fujin emerged from the essence of Eldari as elemental forces of nature. Together, they maintain harmony within the world, symbolized by the eye within the storm—a perfect balance of order within the wild forces of wind and lightning.

Fujin is often depicted as a sleek and elegant Unknown, his form encased in swirling clouds and gusts of wind. His shimmering scales of turquoise and white reflect the sky itself, and wherever he travels, the wind follows. The Wind Monks believe that Fujin’s power lies not only in his control over the wind, but in his profound understanding of the natural order. The winds he commands can be gentle, guiding the wayward, or fierce, cutting down those who threaten the harmony of the world.

While Raijin represents raw, destructive energy, Fujin is the calming force that tempers the storm. His winds carry the message of peace, patience, and wisdom, yet they also remind those who forget the balance of the power that lies within the elements.

Alongside Raijin, Fujin plays a critical role in maintaining the harmony of the world. Together, they represent the eye of order within the storm of wind and lightning. This eternal dance is not just a display of power but an intricate balancing act that sustains the natural order. Fujin’s winds direct the flow of nature, while Raijin’s lightning provides the force needed to sustain the balance between creation and destruction. It is through their combined efforts that the cycles of the world continue in equilibrium.

The duality between the two gods reflects the Yin and Yang of existence—Raijin as the forceful storm and Fujin as the soothing breeze. Their connection as brothers makes them inseparable in their duties, as both elements are needed to sustain the balance of life.

One of Fujin’s most renowned feats was his role in the defeat of the barbarian warlord Valkur, the self-crowned warrior-king of Norska who led the united Tribes of Khaos tribes from the far north. When the barbarian hordes waged war upon the Y’azi Peninsula, threatening to bring chaos to the empire, Fujin and Raijin intervened.

The developing Y'azi Empire was on the verge of collapse under Valkur’s savage onslaught, but the two gods descended to the mortal realm in a desperate effort to restore balance. Fujin’s winds lashed against Valkur’s forces, scattering their ranks, while Raijin’s lightning dealt the decisive blow. In a climactic confrontation, the brothers banished Valkur to the Plane of Khaos, ensuring that his barbaric ambitions could no longer threaten the harmony of the world.

Since that time, Fujin and Raijin have remained secluded on the Isle of Storms, awaiting those worthy to witness the harmony they protect. There, Fujin continues to oversee the wind's movement throughout the world, guiding those who seek to understand the wisdom and balance of the elements.

The Wind Monks of Fujin are dedicated to mastering the art of the wind in all its forms, emulating Fujin's discipline and grace. They see the wind not just as a force of nature, but as a living entity—an extension of Fujin’s will that can guide, nurture, or destroy. For centuries, the monks have devoted themselves to Fujin’s teachings, which emphasize the importance of balance and harmony with the elements.

Through elaborate ceremonies and ritualistic performances of Ether-Rifting, the Wind Monks honor their god, seeking his blessings and guidance in all aspects of their lives. Fujin’s presence can be felt in the wind that accompanies their martial arts training, and his wisdom is believed to flow through the monks during moments of deep meditation.

Fujin is revered not only as a deity but as a master of martial arts. The Wind Monks train for years, striving to achieve mastery over their bodies and the wind, wielding it as both a weapon and a tool for spiritual enlightenment. Fujin’s followers believe that by mastering the wind, they can better understand the world and their place within it. His teachings encourage patience, discipline, and the belief that power must be wielded with responsibility and purpose.

Those who demonstrate great devotion and mastery are said to receive divine insight from Fujin himself, granting them power beyond that of ordinary mortals. His winds carry messages of wisdom, guiding the monks toward their ultimate goal of achieving harmony with the elements and the world around them. While Fujin’s winds can be gentle and soothing, they also carry a fierce side, capable of becoming as destructive as Raijin’s lightning when balance is threatened. Despite this, Fujin is seen as a just and fair deity, who rewards his followers not with power for power’s sake, but with the wisdom to wield that power in service of harmony.

For the people of the Y'azi Peninsula, Fujin represents the guiding force that keeps the world on course. His ability to both nurture and destroy ensures that life flourishes, but never at the expense of the natural order. As a protector of balance, Fujin's role in maintaining the world’s harmony is both deeply revered and feared.

Fujin’s teachings continue to inspire generations of Wind Monks and Y'azi Samurai alike, influencing not only their martial prowess but their spiritual understanding of the world. His influence can be felt throughout the Y'azi Empire, and his wind is seen as a constant reminder of the delicate balance that must be maintained between order and chaos.

Though he remains withdrawn on the Isle of Storms, Fujin's guidance reaches all corners of the empire, carried on the wind that whispers through the lands. To the monks who serve him, Fujin is not only a god but a mentor, shaping their lives and philosophies with the eternal wisdom of the wind.
