Raijin

God of Lightning

Raijin, patron deity of the Unknown, was born from the essence of Kinetus and Ignis. Alongside his brother, Fujin -- the god of wind -- they form a crucial balance within the Y’azi Peninsula and the greater prime plane, embodying the eternal dance of wind and lightning—the harmonious forces that maintain order within the world. Raijin’s power is immense, and his presence looms large across the Y'azi Peninsula, where he is revered as a figure of awe and divine strength.

Raijin and Fujin are unique even amongst the Pantheon of Primus, having survived The Planar Rapture when many of the Primus Gods fell to the great war with the Elementari. Unlike the True Dragon of the second age, who were created by the gods, Raijin and Fujin emerged from the essence of Eldari as elemental forces of nature. Together, they maintain harmony within the world, symbolized by the eye within the storm—a perfect balance of order within the wild forces of wind and lightning.

Raijin is often depicted as a fearsome Unknown, wreathed in spectral lightning, with scales that shimmer and crackle with divine energy. His brother Fujin, the embodiment of wind, and Raijin together represent the ultimate balance of Yin and Yang—where Raijin’s raw, destructive power is tempered by Fujin’s guiding force of patience and flow.

Their dance of wind and lightning has long been seen as a metaphor for the natural order, with the storm embodying the chaos of the world and Raijin and Fujin as the eye of order within it.

In the Y’azi Empire's darkest hour, when the developing Y'azi Peninsula was on the verge of falling into chaos as the barbarian warlord Valkur, a fierce and savage conqueror from the far north of Norska, led the united Tribes of Khaos into a brutal war against the Y'azi Empire. The chaos threatened to unravel the delicate balance that Raijin and Fujin had protected for eons.

In a desperate bid to prevent the Peninsula from descending into anarchy, Raijin and Fujin personally intervened, unleashing their combined might. The Warrior-King Valkur was a force of destruction, his armies ravaging the land, but the twin gods power was overwhelming, and in a climactic encounter, they defeated Valkur, banishing him to the Plane of Khaos

Since then, Raijin and Fujin have withdrawn to the Isle of Storms, where they await those worthy to bear witness to the harmony of the world. Here, Raijin remains both a protector and teacher, offering insight to those who prove themselves in battle or seek his wisdom in understanding the balance of the elements.

Raijin’s influence is deeply felt throughout the Y'azi Empire, especially among the Warrior Monks of Raijin, who devote their lives to mastering his teachings. The deity is said to have founded the powerful art of Arc-Rifting, a subsect of Sun-Rifting that fuses martial arts with lightning manipulation. The Elder Monk - Master Orochi Agatsu - is rumored to have received divine wisdom directly from the thunder god himself.

Despite his fearsome nature, Raijin is more than just a destructive force. He is a protector of the Y'azi Dragonborn and Hengeyokai that dwell in the Y'azi Peninsula, quelling the Tides of Chaos that threaten to dislodge the balance of the world. While he remains isolated within the Isle of Storms, his presence is always felt during the Empire’s most critical moments, whether through the booming thunder of his voice or the flash of lightning that cuts through the darkest skies.

Raijin, alongside his brother Fujin, ensures the harmony of the world continues. Together, they represent the ultimate embodiment of order within chaos, their dance of wind and lightning standing as a reminder of the delicate balance that must be maintained. Though he is a fierce deity, Raijin’s teachings reflect the importance of harnessing destructive power with control and wisdom.

The legacy of Raijin continues to inspire generations of Warrior Monks and worshippers throughout the Y'azi Empire, reminding them that even within the storm, there is order, and that true strength comes from mastering the balance between the opposing forces of nature.
