The Eldari are the first primordial beings that existed before the Continuum Crystal Cosmology was formed, born from the dreaming mind of Azhorra'tha, the Watcher in the Abyss. Each Eldari represented a fundamental force or element of existence - as experienced in the watcher's eternal dream - serving as the building blocks of reality. Their conflict gave birth to the concepts of existence itself. Through the Solis Singularity, the Eldari sacrificed themselves to form the planes of existence, ultimately shaping the known universe.
Origins
The Eldari were created as manifestations of Azhorra'tha’s subconscious when it entered the known universe through a rift from a long-forgotten dimension. These beings were not created by design, but were instead born of the eldritch beings chaotic mind - as reflections of its perceptions. In this, they embodied various elemental forces and cosmic principles, such as energy, force, creation, destruction, and many more.
Elemental Existence
Though nigh-infinite in power, the Eldari were volatile aspects of a greater whole, continually clashing and shaping reality in what became known as Primordial Pandemonium. This unceasing chaos resulted from their interactions, tearing the fabric of the universe apart even as they created it.
Prism, the Eldari of Order, and Ael, the Star-Smith, conspired to bring an end to the chaos by forging a cosmos out of these clashing elemental forces. They rallied the Eldari for a singular purpose: to establish balance through sacrifice, creating order from chaos.
Creation of the Cosmos
The Solis Singularity was the pivotal event in which the Eldari channeled their elemental essence into a single point of creation. Through this final act, they sacrificed themselves, transmuting their essences into the very fabric of the cosmos, thus creating the planes of existence. Ael, wielding the divine hammer upon the Star-Forge of Creation, shaped the Continuum Crystal Cosmology, which became the framework for the ordered universe.
Some major events of the Solis Singularity include:
- Ael and Thanatos merging (due to the latter's betrayal), resulting in the creation of Helios (God of Life) and Deimos (God of Death), representing the eternal cycle of life and death.
- Zephyr and Kinetus merging to form the Plane of Zephyron (Air) and Plane of Aquos (Water), embodying space and motion, as well as gravity.
- Essence of Gaia transmuted into the Plane of Gaian, which brings material order to the cosmos.
- Ignis eternal flame burning on through the star-forged Plane of Ignis, which provides heat and energy to the cosmos.
- The transmutation of Prism into the Plane of Prisms, where Symetrius now acts as the custodian of order, maintaining the Riftways between the planes.
- Kronus, the Eldari of Time, was forged into The Continuum Crystal to contain the Plane of Khaos and the Void of Infinitum that existed beyond it so that the timeline could be preserved.
- Nox, the Eldari of Void, representing the ultimate end of all things, and becoming the Void of Infinitum (aka the infinite layers of the abyss), trapping Azhorra’tha in its own endless dream.
Planes of Existence
After the Solis Singularity, the Eldari became part of the universe they helped to create. Their essences formed the foundational realms known as the Elemental Planes:
- Plane of Helion (Life)
- Plane of Oblivion (Death)
- Plane of Gaian (Matter)
- Plane of Ignis (Energy)
- Plane of Zephyron (Space/Air)
- Plane of Aquos (Water/Motion)
- Plane of Prisms (Order)
- Void of Infinitum (Void/Edges of Existence)
Each plane reflects the elemental essence of the Eldari that created it. The Prime Plane serves as the central realm where all these planes are interconnected by Riftways, channels of energy binding the cosmology together on the central point known as the Continuum Crystal, which was formed from the essence of Kronus (Eldari of Time). It is within the Continuum Crystal that the Plane of Khaos is suspended as it exists outside of the time-space continuum.
Destruction and Transformation
The Eldari cannot "die" or be destroyed in the conventional sense as the elements are preserved throughout the cosmos. Each Eldari was transmuted into the elemental forces that now govern the universe. Their essences continue to shape the cosmos, existing as the very elements of reality itself. The remnants of Azhorra’tha’s dream still ripple through the fabric of creation, with the Void of Infinitum—Nox’s domain—serving as the end of all things.
Thus, the Eldari's legacy is eternal, woven into the stars, the planes, and the cosmic balance that sustains the universe. Even as the Pantheon of Primus carries forward their influence as remnants of their ancestors, the echoes of the Eldari are felt in every breath of existence, every ripple of time, and every flicker of a dying star.
