Appearance
Helios, the god of life and creation, manifests as a radiant figure of pure light, often depicted with a glowing golden aura and a face that resembles the heart of a blazing sun. His form is ethereal, composed of endless waves of warmth and vitality, although he often appears in the form of a Solir. His eyes, shining like twin stars, are said to hold the essence of the cosmos within them. Mortals who glimpse his divine visage feel an overwhelming sense of renewal and hope. He carries a celestial harp, whose strings hum with the melody of life itself.
Origin
Helios was formed from the divine union between Ael, the Eldari of Creation, and Thanatos, the Eldari of Destruction, during the Solis Singularity. This merging was both a sacrifice and a necessity, for Ael foresaw that Thanatos would attempt to consume all of creation during the forging of the cosmos. In their final act, Ael merged with Thanatos, giving birth to both Helios and his brother Deimos, the god of death. Together, Helios and Deimos represent the balance of creation and destruction, life and death, embodying the eternal cycle that governs the cosmos. Helios is the sun, the giver of life, while Deimos is the moon, the keeper of death, their fates intertwined for all eternity.
Existence and Powers
Helios is the supreme god of life and creation, presiding over the Pantheon of Primus. His divine power flows through all living beings, sustaining life and allowing the cosmos to thrive. It is Helios who gives the sun its warmth, ensuring that the Prime Plane and other realms are filled with light and life. His power extends beyond mere physical creation; he is responsible for the existence of magic itself, having woven the first strands of the Ether, which his daughter Mystera, the goddess of magic, now maintains.
Helios is the creator of the True Dragons, the first sentient beings of the Prime Plane, who were tasked with shaping and protecting the world. He also forged the Hosts of Helion, a celestial legion of angels who protect the Plane of Helion and uphold the divine order. These angels, now commanded by Talos, the god of vigilance and vengeance, act as divine protectors of the cosmos, carrying out the will of Helios and ensuring that the forces of chaos do not upset the balance of creation.
Connections
- Deimos: Helios' brother and the god of death. Together they represent the cycle of life and death, sun and moon, creation and destruction. Though opposite in nature, they are inseparable forces in the cosmic order.
- Mystera: Helios' daughter, the goddess of magic. She maintains the flow of magic throughout the cosmos, a force created by Helios through the Ether.
- True Dragons: Helios' creations, the first sentient beings of the Prime Plane, designed to shape and protect the realms.
- Hosts of Helion: The celestial angels created by Helios to safeguard the Plane of Helion and maintain cosmic order. Led by Talos, these angels are divine warriors who ensure the safety of the gods and the realms.
Legacy and Legends
Helios is revered throughout the cosmos as the embodiment of life and light. His influence is felt in every corner of the universe, from the smallest plant to the largest star. Mortals, particularly farmers, healers, and parents, pray to Helios for fertility, protection from disease, and success in life. He is especially beloved by the Solir (sun elves), who view him as the divine embodiment of energy and life.
It is said that when Helios created the True Dragons, he gave them a portion of his divine essence, making them powerful and wise. These dragons shaped the world, bringing order to the chaos of the Prime Plane. However, as the ages passed, many of the True Dragons fell during the Planar Rapture, the great war between the Pantheon of Primus and the Elementari. Despite their loss, the legacy of the True Dragons lives on, as their teachings and power continue to influence the world.
Death and Afterlife
Helios is the god of life, and his existence is eternal. However, his power is intimately tied to the cycle of life and death represented by his brother, Deimos. It is believed that if the Song of Life, played on Helios' celestial harp, ever ceases, life itself will come to an end throughout the cosmos. Helios presides over the Plane of Helion, a realm of perfect creation where the gods of the Pantheon of Primus reside. This plane is a place of endless beauty, filled with vibrant life and divine harmony. It stands in contrast to the Plane of Oblivion, where Deimos rules over the dead.
Helios' legacy is one of life, creation, and the eternal struggle to preserve the balance of the cosmos. Through his power, the universe continues to thrive, and as long as the sun rises, Helios' influence will endure.
