Atropos was one of the fabled Oracles of Oblivion, revered as the embodiment of the Afterlife among the Fyrashan Spirit Seers. His unmatched ability to traverse the boundaries of the mortal world and the realms beyond made him a revered sage among his people. Through his piercing gaze, Atropos could perceive the lingering sins of spirits and unravel the mysteries of their torment, granting him a unique role in guiding the souls of the departed through their passage to the afterlife.
Atropos dedicated his life to ensuring the balance of the cycle of life and death, working to guide lost spirits, perform sacred rites, and ward off forces that sought to disrupt the delicate equilibrium.
Appearance
Atropos carried the weight of millennia in his appearance. His long, greying blonde hair and beard were tangled but meticulously braided with ritual charms of bone and thread. The ragged Unknown ritual cloak he wore bore the faded glyphs of ancient passage rites, signifying his dedication to the sacred rituals of his people. His luminous blue eyes seemed to pierce through mortal and spiritual veils alike, granting him insight into the plight of restless spirits and the truths hidden in the Ethereal Plane.
Final Days
In the twilight of his life, Atropos secluded himself on a remote peak in the Asbjorn Mountains, seeking solitude to perform a passage ritual for a host of lingering spirits trapped in the Veil of Valkur. However, his sanctuary was discovered by the Chosen of Khaos, a cabal of khaos-tainted warriors intent on extinguishing the Oracles of Oblivion. Among his pursuers was Valketh, a monstrous flesh-bound abomination devoted to Skoll, the Khaos God of Savagery and Hunger.
Despite his advanced age, Atropos proved his formidable strength in the face of adversity. He summoned ethereal energies to eviscerate Valketh while engaging the monstrous blood beast in direct combat. In a climactic battle atop the mountain peak, Atropos unleashed his full power, calling forth the spirits of the damned to rend Valketh's fleshy form asunder. Though victorious, Atropos was gravely weakened by the encounter and ultimately slain by the other chosen warriors.
Legend and Legacy
As Atropos concluded the ritual, ensuring the safe passage of the spirits he had guided, he was cornered by the Chosen of Khaos. In his final moments, he stood as a defiant protector of the Fyrashan people and their sacred traditions, refusing to yield even as his life was extinguished by the enemy. His death marked a devastating loss for the Fyrashan and the balance between life and death.
Atropos’s sacrifice became a rallying cry for the Fyrashan people, symbolizing their enduring resilience against forces that sought to corrupt the natural order. His name is still spoken in reverence, and his deeds are chronicled in the Codex of Eternity, a sacred text preserved by the Fyrashan Spirit Seers.
