Tribe of Ulfbjorn

Werebear Tribe

Origins

The Ulfbjorn Tribe, one of the most feared and revered of the Unknown tribes, were once a proud and relatively peaceful group of nomadic hunters who lived on the edge of arctic forests within the frozen tundras of Norska. Their lives were harsh but balanced, their existence intertwined with the arctic wilderness around them. However, as the corruption of Borealis took hold of the land, freezing it in an eternal permafrost, the Ulfbjorn found themselves plunged into desperation.

Struggling to survive the unrelenting winter, they were forced to resorted to their primal and savage nature, even slaughtering each other for food in some instances. Their desperate and depraved actions were noticed by Skoll, the Khaos deity of hunger and savagery. As they soon turned their prayers for strength and sustenance to Skoll, they were answered, but at a terrible cost. The Werebear curse was bestowed upon them, transforming the Ulfbjorn into hulking, bestial hunters. Driven by both instinct and divine power, they embraced this transformation, abandoning their former selves to become the brutal and relentless warriors of Skoll.

Now, the Tribe of Ulfbjorn is a terrifying force of primal ferocity, with their fervent devotion to Skoll manifesting in their savage and bestial nature. They have become hunters of unmatched skill, able to track their prey across even the most desolate wastelands and dense, frost-covered forests. With their keen senses and predatory instincts, they are unparalleled in their ability to stalk and strike with deadly precision. It is for this duality of cunning and savagery as hunters that they earned the name "Ulfbjorn", which means Wolf-Bears in ancient Norskan.

The Werebear Curse

The Werebear Curse, bestowed by Skoll, has forever altered the tribe, transforming the Ulfbjorn into massive, hulking beasts that possess the strength and ferocity of the ancient Norskan bears. These Werebears are among the largest and most dangerous creatures in all of Norska, towering even over Frost Goliath's from the Tribe of Valhrafnar. Blessed by the ruinous powers, the Werebears have become the embodiment of savage power, their strength unmatched by any other humanoid race.

The Ulfbjorn revel in their curse, seeing it not as a burden, but as a gift from their god. Their massive forms are capable of immense feats of strength, such as cutting down ancient oak trees in a single strike or bringing down massive prey like Mammoths and Rhemoraz with proficiency. Their prowess in the hunt is legendary, with Ulfbjorn Werebears engaging in great hunts as both ritual and sport, seeking out the most dangerous beasts the icy wilderness has to offer.

Their primal connection to Skoll gives them an almost supernatural affinity for the hunt, their senses heightened far beyond those of ordinary men. With the keen instincts of predators, they can track prey over vast distances, through the coldest wastelands, and even across the treacherous, frozen terrain of the arctic tundras.

Life on The Frozen Fringe

The Ulfbjorn Village calls the frozen tundras their home, an expansive land of frozen plains and fields of ice. The tundras are vast, with towering glaciers stretching skyward, covered in a thick layer of frost and ice. It is a place where only the strongest survive, and it is here that the Werebears of Ulfbjorn thrive.

The Village of Ulfbjorn is nestled at the edge of the arctic forests, where they have built crude, yet sturdy, wooden homes to shelter them from the eternal winter. The village itself is a mixture of natural beauty and savage power, with towering totems of bears and wolves carved from ancient trees, marking their devotion to Skoll. The icy winds howl through the village, but the Ulfbjorn are unfazed, their great fur-clad bodies built to endure the harshest cold.

Hunting is a way of life for the Ulfbjorn. They hunt the great beasts of Norska, such as Mammoths, Rhemoraz, and Snow Trolls, as part of their rituals to honor Skoll. These hunts are not only a means of survival but also an act of worship, where the Ulfbjorn prove their worth to their savage god. The greater the beast they bring down, the more favor they receive from Skoll, and the more powerful they become.

Of Strength and Savagery

Among the Ulfbjorn Tribe, strength is revered above all else. Herculean feats of strength and endurance are a source of pride and honor within the tribe. The Werebears often compete in brutal contests, testing their strength against one another by felling ancient trees or wrestling giant beasts into submission. These contests are more than simple displays of power; they are sacred rituals that reflect their devotion to Skoll.

In battle, the Ulfbjorn are an unstoppable force, their massive forms plowing through enemy lines with the ferocity of wild animals. They are known for their brutal and savage fighting style, tearing through armor and flesh alike with their claws and fangs. When united under the will of a Warrior-King, the Ulfbjorn Tribe becomes a force to be reckoned with, capable of laying waste to entire armies in the name of their ruinous gods.

Though they often war with the other tribes of Norska, the Ulfbjorn are known to unite with their fellow Tribes of Khaos when a Warrior-King rises, leading them on devastating raids against the southern lands. Their most infamous raids have been against the Y’azi Empire, where they have unleashed their savage fury, leaving entire towns in ruins and striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.

Legacy of The Ulfbjorn

The Ulfbjorn Tribe is known not only for their savage strength and hunting prowess but also for their connection to the ancient Werebear Curse. They have embraced the lycanthropic nature bestowed upon them by Skoll, becoming a symbol of brutal power and ferocity throughout Norska. Their devotion to the Pantheon of Khaos and their willingness to sacrifice everything in the name of their gods has made them both feared and respected by their fellow tribes.

The legacy of the Ulfbjorn Tribe is one of strength, survival, and savagery. They have endured the harshest conditions imaginable, and through their worship of Skoll, they have become a force of nature, embodying the primal wrath of the north.
