Orsin, the brutal and unyielding elder of the Tribe of Ulfbjorn, was a Werebear feared by both his kin and his enemies. A devoted follower of Skoll, the Khaos God of Savagery, Orsin saw the world through a primal and merciless lens—a realm of predator and prey, where only the strong deserved to rule. He seized power by challenging and defeating his brother, Tarlo, whom he saw as weak for his restraint and diplomacy. From that moment, Ulfbjorn became a kingdom of blood and fury, its people driven by an endless hunger for slaughter in the name of Skoll.
Orsin was a relentless hunter, leading countless raids into the Fralskar Forest, driving its denizens—both man and beast—to near extinction. He believed the act of hunting was a sacred tribute to Skoll, and that only by spilling blood could one prove their worth. His iron-fisted rule shaped the Ulfbjorn into a fearsome warband, feared across Norska for their relentless berserker raids and ruthless hunts.
Even his own son, Pali, held deep resentment for him, though the two shared the same savage strength. Orsin saw only weakness in hesitation, and thus pushed Pali into cruelty, ensuring that his heir would surpass him in both might and ferocity.
Rise to Power
Orsin’s rise as Elder marked a dark turning point for the Ulfbjorn. Whereas Tarlo had once led with a tempered hand, Orsin’s rule was one of blood, conquest, and servitude to Khaos. The Ulfbjorn did not simply hunt to survive—they hunted to please Skoll, leaving villages razed, warriors butchered, and the land itself scarred by their rampages.
The Fralskar Forest, once teeming with life, became a graveyard of broken bodies, as Orsin led his warriors deeper and deeper in search of greater prey. He believed that by offering the strongest kills to Skoll, he would ascend within the Pantheon of Khaos, becoming something greater than mortal flesh.
His ruthlessness won him many followers, but also many enemies. The whispers of discontent among his people meant nothing to him, for in his eyes, those who lacked the strength to challenge him were unworthy of speaking at all.
Predator and Prey
For all his might, Orsin was still bound to the laws of the hunt. He knew that there was always a stronger predator waiting—a belief that would prove true when Varaghast Ghuul rose to power.
Varaghast, the Champion of Khaos and soon-to-be Warrior-King, sought to unite the warring Unknown tribes under his rule. But to do so, he needed to break their strongest warriors, proving himself as the supreme predator.
One by one, he challenged the elders of Norska, cutting them down in single combat, leaving no doubt that he was the one destined to lead The Tides of Khaos. When he came for Orsin, the Ulfbjorn Elder welcomed the challenge, eager to test his strength against the most feared warrior in the north.
Their battle was savage, a primal clash of brute strength and relentless fury. Orsin fought as he always had—without restraint, calling upon his monstrous werebear form, his roars shaking the mountains. But Varaghast was more than just a warrior; he was the will of Khaos itself.
In the end, Varaghast overwhelmed Orsin, his blade sundering the elder’s flesh and rending his spirit. With a final, crushing blow, he drove his axe through Orsin’s chest, ending the reign of the Elder.
As Orsin lay dying, his blood soaking the frozen tundra, Varaghast claimed dominion over Ulfbjorn, and with it, the allegiance of every Norskan tribe.
Legacy
Though Orsin’s reign ended in defeat, his savage ideology lived on through his son, Pali, and the warriors of Ulfbjorn. Under Varaghast’s rule, the Ulfbjorn were reforged into an unstoppable force, but they never forgot their elder’s lessons:
"Only the strong survive. Only the worthy lead. And the hunt never ends."
Orsin’s name is now spoken not in reverence, but as a cautionary tale—the story of a predator who believed himself invincible, only to be devoured by a greater beast.
