The Senate oversees the civil matters in the lands, passing laws that the Praetor enforces with his Guard. It is intended to balance the power of the Praetor which, as it turns out, causes some interesting family dynamics for the Glaber (pronounced - Glaba) family whose first born is the Praetor (Marcus Antonius) and first daughter is Senator Vatha, a first among equals.
Because it is all but impossible to balance the Praetor without military might, the Senate maintains a strong relationship with the Mages Guild, the Trades and also any adventuring groups based out of the great city state of Kashal. In terms of DaggerHeart, these individuals are from the Highborne community
Advancing these ranks of renown has it's privileges and looks like this:
- Peregrini - Freeborn of the conquered lands. Typically having Gaelic names
- Plebian - Citizens, farmers and shopkeepers
- Patrician - Citizens of the upper class, live inside the walls
- Equestrian - Wealthier, this citizen generally has horses, gladiators, etc.
- Senator - Full members of the Senate who debate and order civil matters.
There are also slaves who have very few legal protections, but once freed, they attain the rank of Freemen which is equivalent to the Peregrini, but still maintains a stigma.
