Yewbent

Weapon (Longbow), rare (requires attunement)

Shaped from a single, ancient yew grown in a hidden forest grove, Yewbent curves with a natural grace that no mortal craftsman could replicate. Its limbs are slender but impossibly strong, etched with faint, flowing patterns that resemble wind through leaves. The wood is warm to the touch, alive with quiet vitality, and the bowstring hums softly when drawn—like a breath taken by the forest itself.

No two arrows fired from Yewbent ever seem to follow quite the same path… and yet they always find their mark.

Properties

  • You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
  • Yewbent’s range is doubled (normal range 300 ft., long range 1,200 ft.).

Wood Elf Harmony

When a wood elf is attuned to Yewbent:

  • They have advantage on all attack rolls made with the bow.
  • The weapon seems to guide their aim, subtly correcting for distance, wind, and movement.

Non-wood elves can still wield Yewbent normally, but its deeper magic remains just out of reach.

Whisper of the Grove

When drawn, the bowstring emits a faint, almost inaudible tone. Creatures with a passive Perception of 15 or higher may notice it—not as a sound, but as a feeling, like being watched by ancient trees.

Weapon Type

Yewbent functions as a longbow (ranged, heavy, two-handed, ammunition).

Lore

Legends say Yewbent was crafted by a circle of wood elf wardens to defend their homeland from threats that never reached the forest floor. The bow was not meant for war, but for protection at a distance—to strike before danger could take root.

It is said the yew it was carved from still stands… somewhere… and that the bow remembers.
