House leader Baeatrijs van Kroos van Kroos manages Van Kroos Trading, a major importer and exporter of goods via airship throughout the world. Her daughter Zara van Kroos is the captain of her own sailing ship, Tigress. Baeatrijs delights in thwarting her son, Johan van Kroos and his silly desire to become a lich. She would prefer he settle down with a nice girl, like Eva Mulder, and find immortality by making her some grandchildren. Baeatrijs supports the Wizards of the Black Ring as a perverse way of connecting with her son. They have good wine too.

The Van Kroos family was once in the airship crystal business, with their own vattery. However, they've left that line of business to sell Aether silk for sails and various crystal based products to wealthy patrons.
