Baishum Judocus is a man shaped by hardship, resilience, and an unwavering sense of duty. Born in the chaotic and war-torn Principality of Teosia, he grew up as a refugee, a status that marked him from an early age. Orphaned and displaced, Baishum's early years were a struggle for survival, his childhood memories filled with loss and the harsh realities of a life on the run.
His fortunes changed when he was taken in by a Teosian monastery and raised among the Black Monks, a clandestine order that serves as a spy network across the region. Here, he was trained in the art of subterfuge, martial prowess, and meditation. The Black Monks honed his natural agility and cunning, transforming him into a skilled operative with a mission: to assist their client on security. The client was the Crimson Slavers, a notorious band of Teosian raiders who preyed on the weak and vulnerable, including many of Baishum's own people.
Despite his initial resolve, Baishum's time with the Crimson Slavers led to a profound change in his perspective. The more he lived among slaves, the so-called barbarians, the more he came to see them as kindred spirits—people who had been misunderstood and maligned by outsiders. Many were his own kinspeople, survivors of the same ravages that had shaped his life. This realization led Baishum to abandon his mission and defy the Crimson Slavers, something easy for him, since he know their security inside and out. During a brutal raid, he seized the moment, stole a boat and made his way to Seregon..
For the past 20 years, Baishum has lived in Seregon, a city far from his homeland but one he has come to love as his own. He has aligned himself with the Ithosian Talons, a local organization dedicated to defending the people of Seregon from threats, including slavers. Baishum now teaches the Talons the techniques and tactics he learned during his time with the Black Monks and Crimson Slavers, equipping them to better protect their people from being captured and sold.
Physically, Baishum is a short, wiry man of about 60 years, his body a testament to the rigorous training of both the Black Monks and the life of survival he has led. His white hair is pulled back and his brown eyes reflect his intensity, while his slightly protruding forehead marks him as an outsider, a refugee from the barbarian lands to the east. His movements are fluid and purposeful, reminiscent of a jungle panther stalking its prey, a blend of grace and lethal precision.
Baishum's life in Seregon is marked by a deep gratitude towards the Ithosian Talons, who welcomed him despite his foreign origins. In return, he is fiercely loyal to them, dedicating his skills and knowledge to their cause. He finds peace in meditation, a practice that helps him cope with the losses he has endured, and takes comfort in the knowledge that he is giving back to his new home, protecting it from the horrors that once consumed his own life.
Baishum is now retired from the Talon's and takes occasional jobs as a fixer, coordinating solutions for people.
Baishum is friends with Narouc Goldengut and Bearn Tuham.
