Kingdom of Aber

Destroyed

Before its tragic fall, the Kingdom of Aber was a once-thriving and diverse realm. Its landscape was an even mix of mountains, plains, and hills, giving rise to a variety of settlements nestled within the kingdom’s varied geography. The Morovian Mountains in the east, which divided Aber from the Queendom of Lysar, were the site of the kingdom’s last stand. Desperate to beat the apocalypse, cultists from The Brotherhood of the Black Lotus tried to summon help but instead brought forth the eldritch terror Hastur the Unspeakable, who destroyed what remained of Aber’s cities and leadership.

At its height, Aber had a population of 2 million people, with 25% residing in cities. The kingdom’s urban life was centered around five major cities, with the capital holding a quarter of the urban population.

Top 5 Cities of Aber:

  1. Aberholme (Capital): 250,000 people

    • Nestled in the central plains, Aberholme was a bustling trade hub and seat of the kingdom’s power. Its towering spires, now in ruins, were once the pride of Aber. The city's central location allowed it to act as the heart of commerce, politics, and culture.
  2. Morovia: 125,000 people

    • Located in the Morovian Mountains, this city housed most of Aber’s dwarven population. Its strongholds were built into the mountain cliffs, and its massive fortifications were a testament to dwarven craftsmanship. Despite the mountains offering some protection, the city eventually fell to the apocalyptic wave.
  3. Loftwell: 100,000 people

    • Situated on the plains, Loftwell was known for its wide open spaces and Loxodon nomadic presence. It was an agricultural powerhouse, providing much of Aber’s food supply before the fall. Now, only remnants of its once-thriving farms remain.
  4. Halwin: 75,000 people

    • Home to Aber’s halfling population, Halwin was located in the rolling hills of the southern plains. Known for its charming hillside homes and cozy atmosphere, Halwin was a city of artisans and craftsmen. Its remote location allowed it to survive longer than most cities, but it too succumbed in the end.
  5. Seaguard: 50,000 people

    • Located on the Sea of Taruk in the northeast, Seaguard was the kingdom’s main port city, handling all of its maritime trade. While Aber’s fleets were once mighty, they were no match for the rising tide of zombies and eldritch horrors. The port has since fallen into decay.

These cities, once the pride of the Kingdom of Aber, now stand in ruin, haunted by the memories of a kingdom lost to both the zombie apocalypse and the terror of Hastur.
