Rakshasa Incarnate
Echos of Infernal Majesty, Reborn in Mortal Flesh
The Rakshasa Incarnates are mortal beings cursed (or blessed) with a soul that once belonged to a rakshasa—a fiendish spirit condemned to reincarnate in lesser, mortal forms. These individuals might appear as any humanoid race, but their eyes often hold a hint of something ancient and sinister, and their movements are marked by a subtle grace and predatory awareness.
Though they lack the full power and immortality of their former fiendish existence, Rakshasa Incarnates retain fragments of their past lives, manifesting in unique abilities and insights that set them apart from ordinary mortals.
Rakshasa Incarnate Traits
Rakshasa Incarnate is a unique lineage that can overlay any standard humanoid race. Your creature type is Humanoid (with an echo of Fiend).
Age. Rakshasa Incarnates mature and age at the same rate as the race they physically resemble.
Alignment. Rakshasa Incarnates are often drawn toward neutrality, struggling between the dark inclinations of their past fiendish life and the morality of their mortal existence. They tend to be conflicted, with some leaning toward evil or good based on personal choices and karmic journey.
Size. Rakshasa Incarnates take on the size of the race they appear as. You are either Small or Medium, depending on that choice.
Speed. Your base walking speed matches the race you appear as (typically 30 feet for most humanoids).
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Rakshasan, a language filled with complex infernal phrases and poetic curses that only those with fiendish heritage can truly understand.
Darkvision. Your fiendish heritage grants you superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Infernal Echoes
Your rakshasa soul grants you two minor powers from the list below, allowing you to tap into the vestiges of your former fiendish glory. Choose two of the following abilities:
Whispering Influence: You can cast suggestion once per short rest. The duration of this effect is halved to a maximum of 4 hours.
Phantasmal Visions: You can cast minor illusion at will. Once per long rest, you can cast silent image (lasting up to 1 minute) without expending a spell slot.
Demonic Cunning: You can use a bonus action to gain advantage on a Charisma (Deception) or (Persuasion) check once per short rest.
Sense of the Supernatural: You can sense the presence of fiends, celestials, and undead within 60 feet of you if they aren’t behind total cover, though you don’t know their exact locations.
Rakshasa Resilience: Once per long rest, you can reroll a failed saving throw against charm or fear effects.
Veil of Shadows: As a bonus action, you can gain advantage on Stealth checks for 1 minute, once per short rest.
Mystic Recall: Once per long rest, you can recall a spell you cast within the last hour (1st or 2nd level) without using a spell slot.
Veiled Presence: You can alter your appearance slightly to change hair, fur, or eye color, or make minor facial changes. You gain advantage on any disguise attempts for up to 1 hour.
Eldritch Memory: You have advantage on Intelligence (Arcana) checks related to fiends, infernal magic, or karmic rituals.
Echo of Pain: Once per long rest, when you’re dealt damage, you can deal 1d6 psychic damage to your attacker as a reaction.
Infernal Legacy
Due to the karmic burden of your rakshasa soul, your path is one of redemption or descent. As a Rakshasa Incarnate, you are plagued by the knowledge that your actions have consequences beyond this life. Each significant choice brings you closer to redemption or damnation, manifesting in flashes of memory from lives once lived and glimpses of what may lie ahead.
