Verdant Diadem

Verdant Diadem

Type: Wondrous Item (legendary, requires attunement by a rakshasa)
Description: This version of the Verdant Diadem reflects the legacy of King Saudasa’s ascent to power and his domination of the serpentfolk. The crown glimmers with emerald shards woven into a framework of golden serpentine coils. Tiny, enchanted emerald serpents slither subtly across its surface, a testament to the Rakshasa King’s mastery over his vanquished foes.

Abilities:

  1. Serpent's Bane:

    • While wearing the diadem, you gain advantage on all attack rolls and saving throws against serpentfolk.
    • Additionally, your attacks ignore resistance to slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage if the target is a serpentfolk.
  2. Emerald Dominion:

    • The diadem grants the wearer the ability to cast Dominate Person once per long rest, but only on serpentfolk. When used this way, the spell ignores immunity to charm and lasts for up to 1 hour.
  3. Aura of Supremacy:

    • While attuned, you exude an aura in a 10-foot radius that terrifies serpentfolk. These creatures must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 18) or be frightened while in the aura. If they fail the save by 5 or more, they are also paralyzed for the duration of the fear effect.
  4. Serpent's Legacy:

    • Once per day, as an action, you can summon a massive spectral serpent to constrict and crush your enemies. The serpent occupies a 10-foot square and acts as an ally under your control for 1 minute. It can make the following attack:
      • Crushing Coils: Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 4d10 bludgeoning damage, and the target is restrained (escape DC 18).
  5. Emerald Ward:

    • The diadem shields its wearer from venom and reptilian magic. While attuned, you gain immunity to poison damage and the poisoned condition. You also gain advantage on saving throws against spells or effects originating from serpentfolk.

Historical Tie-In:

The diadem represents King Saudasa’s ultimate triumph over the serpentfolk, a defining moment in his rise to power. The Emerald Dominion and Serpent’s Legacy reflect his ability to turn the strength of his enemies against them, while the Aura of Supremacy and Serpent's Bane showcase his unmatched authority and martial prowess.

This artifact serves as a potent symbol of the Rakshasa King’s conquest, designed to inspire awe and dread among allies and foes alike.
