⚔️ Fortifications and Layout
Perimeter Walls:
Stone palisades reinforced with bamboo spikes.
Asymmetrical, shaped by terrain and tactically positioned.
Defense Ditch:
Deep trench surrounds the camp, filled with water and lined with concealed stakes.
Gates:
One Road Gate: Connects to the mining road and civilian quarter.
Two Water Gates: Guarded grates allow water flow but prevent entry from the river.
🛏️ Core Structures
Barracks:
Mudbrick and bamboo construction.
Arranged in precise rows around the field hospital.
Each marked with the silver flame-and-spear insignia of the Immortals.
Clean, efficient, and martial.
Field Hospital:
Centrally located and maintained by a camp cleric.
Stocked with alchemical salves and healing kits.
Rarely used thanks to the soldiers’ elite conditioning.
Latrines:
Located behind the barracks.
Fed by ingeniously channeled river water.
Spotless, odorless, and rigorously maintained.
Animal Pens:
Contain riding lizards, jungle ponies, and pack beasts.
Precisely organized feeding, grooming, and rest schedules.
Strategically positioned for rapid deployment.
🛡️ Command Section
Commander’s Residence:
A large, two-room structure of reinforced bamboo and lacquered wood, raised on stilts to prevent jungle rot.
Private quarters for Sergeant Balasar Turnuroth, complete with maps, journals, and a ceremonial blade of Karsis mounted above his war table.
Includes a smaller adjoining chamber for trusted aides or emissaries.
Decorated with trophies from jungle skirmishes and a few keepsakes from Balasar’s earlier campaigns.
🔧 Specialized Facilities
Armory Bastion (Fortified Square Building):
Thick stone walls, iron-shuttered windows, and rune-marked locks.
Stores all weapons, armor, and enchanted gear not in current use.
Acts as a fallback bunker in case of attack.
Draconic reliefs honor the Immortals’ lineage and feature the flame-bound Oath of Karsis.
Drillshed & Mess Hall (Large L-Shaped Building):
One wing is a covered sparring and training area for inclement weather or private duels.
The other is a dining space where hearty meals and strong drink are shared after drills.
At night, war songs echo from within, and visiting dignitaries are often hosted here with respectful ceremony.
L-shaped design is said to represent the curved fang of Karsis, the camp’s patron figure.
Logistics Cluster (Four Smaller Buildings by the River):
Quartermaster’s Depot:
Overseen by Grak Thundersnout, a cantankerous but efficient red dragonborn.
Inventory includes everything from food to siege rope to shaving razors.
Barracks Alpha:
Reserved for junior recruits, messengers, or visiting allied soldiers.
Smaller, but held to the same discipline as the main barracks.
Tactician’s Pavilion:
Tactical planning station with maps, magical communications, and battle logs.
Junior officers run drills and simulate maneuvers here.
Smithy of the Ember Coil:
Maintained by Sareth Embercoil, a bronze-scaled artificer with a bond to her living tools.
Forge runs day and night, used for both mundane repairs and the rare magical enhancement.
The forge fire is said to be kindled from the breath of an ancient wyrm.
