Nature of Embrace
Largely forgotten in the wake of his famous older brother, Mike Ilitch’s, success, Malcolm had always been regulated to the background. Tired of living in his brother’s shadow, Malcolm attempted to find his own success in the art world. Unfortunately, Malcolm was never much of an artist, but he did have an eye for beauty and his family’s business gene. He made a quiet name for himself procuring and auctioning off art and artifacts. Malcolm would go on to share his talents with famous auction houses like the DuMouchelles in downtown Detroit and Christie’s in New York before being Embraced.
After his Embrace, Malcolm arranged his finances and after staging an aircraft accident, faked his death and left his old life behind. Not returning to the family until his youngest nephew took over the Ilitch company wherein he now largely controls the company through his dominated nephew, owning substantial shares of Ilitch Holdings which include Little Ceasars, Olympia Entertainment, Motor City Casino Hotel, the Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Red Wings. Despite his rivalry with his brother, Malcolm prides himself on the Ilitch name and sees himself as the de facto ruler of Detroit as he attempts to pull strings to ensure that his family controls the Metro Detroit area.
