Evelyn Ramos

Backstory

Evelyn Ramos, Cleo’s mother, is the epitome of the “absent but still present.” She is a socialite, a philanthropist, and a face on the covers of glossy magazines. Evelyn’s days are a blur of gala openings, charity galas, photo‑ops, and endless travel. When she does allow herself to relax, it’s usually with a glass of vintage wine in hand, a rehearsed smile on her lips, and a phone clutched like a lifeline.

Evelyn tries to be a mother. She sends Cleo expensive gifts—designer shoes, the latest tech toys, a subscription to a private art club. She occasionally texts “Love you, princess” from a hotel lobby in Paris. But love for Evelyn is an item on a checklist, not an emotion that fills a room. When Cleo asks for a hug, Evelyn’s answer is a quick pat on the head followed by, “You’ll need to learn to be independent, dear.”

  • Evelyn believes her success is a shield for Cleo, a way to provide her with the best of everything that the world has to offer, a stark contrast from her own childhood
  • Evelyn grew up from much rougher beginnings and her entire life was dedicated to trying to claw her way to the top and out of the pit that was her life
  • She got her ‘lucky break’ when she went from arm candy of some wealthy man to being his young window
  • Married 3 times. She has refused to change her last name from Ramos.
  • Began her steps as a model and is now a business woman with her own high-class fashion line.
