Fourth year Diplomacy Track majoring in Political science and world history. Mean girl +++. Jasmine Oak has it all. The perfect hair, perfect clothes, perfect grades, perfect family, a perfect record. Everyone wants to be Jasmine, or be with Jasmine.

Frenemies

There's a particular clique among the upperclassmen that no one else can stand. The children of Skalassa's influential families, be they rich in money, resources, or political favor, have known each other most of their lives through expensive private schools, elite social events, and the business dealings of their parents. Some of them, such as Lail Ravenwood, Dresden Weathervane, and Beth Vandrin are nice enough to talk to on their own, while others, like Jasmine Oak, Grayson Wildemere, and Clyde Thatcher are completely insufferable. When all of them end up talking together at a party about their rich people problems, it's hard not to roll your eyes. Some people wonder how any of them can tolerate each other, but when you've known someone since you took riding lessons together at the age of 5, it's hard to avoid some measure of association.

This is especially true in the case of Beth and Jasmine, who have been 'friends' since early childhood. They took all the same dance lessons, roomed together at private boarding schools, and spend summers visiting each other's family summer home. And yet, there's a vein of jealousy and contempt between them that no amount of cheerful, backhanded compliments can disguise. Many gossips wonder if the two of them will make it through senior year without finally blowing up at each other.

A Bitter Enemy

There is no one who hates Jasmine more than Dixie Chay. It's not that Jasmine ever did anything to her, really! But she despises the way that Jasmine treats others and her too-good-for-you attitude that she constantly flaunts. Ever since they first met each other in preliminary school, Dixie has made it her goal to call Jasmine out on her bullshit at every opportunity. Being on the quiet side makes her sharp remarks hit harder.
