The Hool Marshes, more commonly called the Hool, is the name given to a large swamp separating the Kingdom of Keloand from Unbekannt. Keoland claims the marshes north of theJavan River, as well as a portion surrounding Westkeep, all of which make up large portions of Keoland's Hool Marsh Protectorate and Viscounty of Salinmoor. The Hool Marshes are infested with many natural dangers, from animal predators to diseases, and is favored by monsters for its shelter. Only desperate people flee into the Hool, knowing the dangers posed by the native lizard folk. Disturbing tales say that cults dedicated to demon princes such as Orcus and Dagon have developed here, as has the infamous Cult of the Black Flame. Keoish forces constantly patrol the northern edges of the Hool Marshes in an effort to keep the kingdom free from incursions by the swamp's unwelcome resident
