Floralist Alliance

The Floralist Alliance

The Floralist Alliance was formed during the early days of what would come to be known as the Floral Revolution. Originally a movement of the rural lower classes, it quickly picked up funding form wealthier agriculturalists, which would ultimately give the revolution its name.

It would take a little more time and structure for the Floralist Alliance to officially form. The network of communication that had been built up during the early months of the uprising, utilising trade caravans to pass on messages, lead to a collective agreement of the most wealthy backers to form the Alliance. Which issued a public declaration of its formation in 915 MH.

Organisation During the Floralist Revolution

Initially, the role of the Alliance was purely administrative, there had been little thought into the political side to the Revolution at this time with the premise being a collective understanding that the House of Olus had to go. The group organised a loose hierarchy amongst themselves and channelling resources to the correct places. In the first months of the campaign, it was essential to rely on mercenaries, the general populous simply not having the means to arm themselves, as such this chain of command was essential to be able to coordinate these.

As the Revolution gained more ground, notably with the defection of Recester, the cities administration, far more experienced in the matters being dealt with, were integrated and took over. The Alliance, therefore, took up new roles as figureheads and began planning their new republic. Divided opinions and lack of experience meant even with the end of the war being three years later, plans for a government had not been finalised, which lead to further fractures and the delay in appointing the first Magnus. Fortunately, this delay had little effect and what was an obedient population and most importantly, resulted in one of the Alliances own being appointed as the new ruler of the country.

Modern Organisation

In the modern day, the Floralist Alliance is the largest political organisation in the Senate, it should however be stressed that is still a private group. The have consistently dominated a majority in the Senate, although this has waned over time. Despite, always holding a majority, the Magnus has not always been from the Floralist Alliance, although they have always had their public support. A cause of this perhaps, is that the Floralists have struggled to maintain cultural relevance and popularity, even while remaining influential in the political sphere. Pressure has also been exerted by external entities, notably the Provincer's lobby, who have had a fractious relationship with the Floralists in the past and often advocate for netrality in the Offices of Government.
