Taking a short moment to catch their breath after clearing out the room from the zombies and the ghoul, Jak o' the Wisptries out his new magical monocle on the illusion wall. He can't get any magical aura from it until he is right up against it. Testing to see if he can enhance the impact he uses the glass vile of holy water, that he just emptied to soak the arrow to fight the ghoul, but it doesn't change much. He gives up the attempt and instead, jokingly starts hugging himself while halfway through the illusion. Irdien moves up to give him a gentle but decisive kick so that he will fall all the way through, but Jak grabs her boot and pulls her along with him. The surprising maneuver earns him a scolding and a swift kiss from Irdien before she exits back to the rest of the group. Jak counts it as a win.
The group move on, still with Labrat at the front. They don't walk for long until she again smells the decay that reminds her of the zombies they just fought. There is a small wooden door ahead, with a one-eyed skull painted on it. Labrat spots two zombies flanking the door, but they appear to be dormant. Jak suggests that she pokes one, but as she does, the zombies wake and start to fight.
A dark shadow flies from the corner and through the door before them as Adrain rushes up to help Labrat get away from the first Zombie. Labrat growls and sends a lightning bolt at its chest, shattering most of its form. She finishes it off with a swift attack with her blade. The other Zombies gets swarmed by Capper, Sirona and Irdien, but none of them can bring it down. Jak ignores the fight entirely and starts examining the door. This door is not an illusion. He starts scraping away the skull symbol with his knife, but it's a massive slab of paint, so it will take a while to remove altogether. After dropping the first zombie Labrat has moved over the second earning its full attention, and despite being attacked by the others, it tries to grab her. Seeing as the last enemy is surrounded in a way that makes it impossible for Adrian to move closer, he pulls out his bow. The arrow impacts the zombies head so forcefully that its breaks of and gets spiked to the wall.
Sirona tells Jak that he probably doesn't need to defile the entire symbol to make it powerless, even though this is not an official crest for the The Lich Kingand doesn't seem to hold any power. They open the door to reveal a laboratory.
The room contains beyond equipment and research also four robust-looking skeletons. Behind them is Garados Kessmir, standing by a table that holds a massive body, made up of several different corpses body parts. Kessemir orders it to rise and defeat the intruders.
Adrian rushes in and cuts at one of the skeletons. Capper bravely follows. The skeleton swipe back at Adrian who nimbly dodges the assault. Wanting to make sure that nothing gets past her Labrat also runs in and shoots of another lighting breath before cutting at a skeleton with her sword. The large flesh golem moves enough to slam an oversized hand down on her. The strike is hard, but Labrat's armor magically absorbs most of it.
One of the skeletons moves up and flanks Adrian, managing to get a hit on him during the distraction. Kessemir sends a magic missile from his hand straight at Labrat.
Irdien looks over the battle. She wants to get closer to Kessemir without having to deal with the enemies in her way. She tries to disappear into the shadows but noticing that it fails Irdien instead takes out her crossbow and shot at one of the skeletons. Jak steps into the chamber, giving Adrian a look as if to casually ask if it is finally time for a sound burst. Instead of asking it out loud however he lifts the lute and strums down the strings, sending a shock wave through the skeletons. The one that was fighting with Labrat shatter to dust. The rest are still standing, and one of them fighting with Adrian managed to sidestep the blast entirely, sending part of the jolt straight into Adrian instead. The skeleton turns away its attention from Adrian and tries swiping at Jak.
Sirona, still in the hallway outside with Irdien, sends cold white air through the room. It attaches itself to the blades of Adrian, Labrat and Irdien, leaving behind a pattern of frost on their weapons. Then she sends a Javelin of faith, at the closest skeleton, fighting Jak in the doorway. It only travels close enough to singe its bone, but its enough to make it crackle and fall to the ground. Sirona moves in, taking its place.
Another skeleton tries to attack her, but she managed to block it with her shield. Making sure that she is okay; there is a split of a second that Adrian's focus is away from the battle and the skeleton behind him manages to shove him to the ground. He rolls free and pushes his sword upwards into the skeleton that dies. Getting to his feet, he gestures towards Capper, that is now flanking the last skeleton standing with him. Capper dutifully attacks the skeleton between them.
Being free from pesky skeletons Labrat looks determinedly at the flesh golem before stepping in and driving the icy sword into its body. It screams at her with anger, and a projectile vomits a black ichor all over her, draining her strength. She looks almost ready to fall. Kessemir sends another magic missile her way, but Labrat remains on her feet, even if just barely. Irdien disappears into the shadows, invisible to her allies and enemies she makes her way through the room and towards Kessemir. Jak moves up, getting his back against a wall. He is just outside of the enormous golems reach and happens to see a shiny book laying on a table next to him. He quickly picks it up before sending a ray of acid spraying all over Kessemir. The man screams in pain, but Jak notices that the acid seems to stain the wizard's clothes a second later than it should as if there was a delay on reality.
Sirona looks at Labrat with panic and momentarily forgets the skeleton blocking her path to her. An orb of fire and water starts floating in the pattern of Jin and Jang; its presence warding off death. She lifts her hands and sends a healing spell towards Labrat that the skeletons try taking advantage off to hit her, but Sirona dodges. Not feeling satisfied yet Sirona sends another heal towards her friend. Along with the usual warm glowing light that charges forwards, it looks like a frosted echo of Sirona's frame follows with it.
The last skeleton, sick of the failed attempts at hitting the cleric, turns away from Sirona and strikes at Labrat. Adrian knows that he is very much within the reach of the large flesh golem, decides to hold his ground and attack. His frosted sword also managed to cut away a substantial piece of the monstrosity, but it keeps fighting. Capper keeps fighting the last skeleton, but can't get in a good hit.
Activating a magical trinket Labrat's body is suddenly infused with energy, gaining resistance of the golem's damage. Even so, she is still weak from the vomit hitting her, and her attack lacks the power to cut through its defense.
The golem roars, as it lashes out towards Adrian, beating the monster hunter to the ground where he remains still and motionless. Kessemir watches with an evil smirk and points towards the unconscious party member for a third magic missile. Labrat immediately lunges forward intercepting the spell, protecting Adrian.
At the same time, Irdien comes out of the shadows behind the wizard. Her eyes cold and stern as she drives her frost-covered blade into his back. She notices as she reaches in that her hand disappears a bit too much into Garados robes before discovering a body. The form of Kessemir disappears, and a skeletal imp with wings falls dead to the floor before her instead.
Jak fires an arrow at the golem while simultaneously shoving some random scrolls into his coat pocket. Sirona summons a second orb, that looks like a half-frozen soap bubble. From it, she pulls a grain of light that she immediately sends towards Adrian, followed by a second healing spell. Adrian opens his eyes. He gets up from the floor and swings his sword at the golem. As it carves up the flesh, he follows up with the axe, embedding it deep into its body. There is a sound, like a death rattle coming from the golem, but it keeps standing. Capper spins around the last skeleton and attacks the golem. The death rattle stops and the monster falls to the floor. Labrat turns around and splits the last skeleton into two pieces. As the battle dies down, the group looks around. This laboratory seems packed with incriminating evidence against Kessemir, and also an opportunity to learn more about the art of necromancy.
