The dark and ugly side

February 3, 2021

As the group sit down to enjoy some hot beverages and a light late lunch, the group start to bring up the topic of letting The Cardinal live. Such a decision will unquestionably come with consequences. Sirona gets defensive and angry to the point where she storms out of the bakery. Adrian and Labrat follow her in an attempt to calm her down. Meanwhile, The suppressed alcohol in Jak's bloodstream from the past 24 hours decides to come crashing down all at once, and the bard gets instantly blackout drunk. Irdien manages to get him back to the Mysterious Bolder and puts him to bed in her room. While waiting for the others to find them, she reads a book she borrowed from Sirona the day before.
Outside the argument continues between Adrian and Sirona to the point where the discussion becomes; if it's better to cut off limbs and tongue than killing someone. Labrat sides with Adrian saying that it sounds cruel which throws Sirona a bit.
Upon learning that the rouge and bard are no longer in the bakery, the trio heads back to the establishment. Here Adrian sees Capper and asks for a minute to chat. They discuss the teenagers roll in the upcoming heist and decide that his best use would be as a pair of extra eyes and hands in defending Vincent.
Upstairs Sirona and Labrat find Irdien and Jak. Jak is snoring in Irdien bed, shirtless and without his boots. After apologising for leaving earlier Sirona asks if she should look at him. A quick examination tells her that he's very drunk and she gives him a brew to rectify this together with a healing spell. Jak wakes up with a jolt, not remembering why he is half-naked, in a bed, in a room with three ladies. After learning Adrian is downstairs, Jak eagerly leads the rest of the group down in hopes for a predinner drink.
Gathering up Sirona asks Jak if he'd prefer to get his hand chopped off or die. Adrian points out that there is a lot of context missing in that question, but Jak doesn't have the time to respond before the sound of crushed glass make the group turn around.
An elven man has dropped his glass and stares at them in horror, visibly urinating himself in complete fear. It dawns on Jak that the man is not looking at them as a group but at Sirona who is going pale. As Adrian starts trying to explain to the man that they are not going to chop his hands, Jak silences him. Sirona steps up to help the man, but he recoils falling to the ground, crawling away, screaming that he doesn't want her to take him back. Now it becomes clear for the rest of them whats going on. Irdien and Adrian pick the man up and puts him on a chair. They try to calm him down while Jak leads Sirona and Labrat away to a different room. Both Sirona and Labrat recognise him. Sirona, shaking, says she healed him multiple times, and one of them was from a suicide attempt. Jak tries to calm her down with music and a beautiful pressed flower.
Irdien turns out to be very good at calming the man down, and Adrian starts explaining that Sirona was a prisoner and is not going to take him back. The Elve introduces himself as Navarre Norsandoral. he has a small plot outside of town where he grows barley and makes beer. The cult sent him her as a spy and informant, but Navarre managed to regain control of himself after meeting a kind and helping priest. He claims to no longer work for them. Adrian asks if Navarre can tell him more details about the cult and maybe if there is a way for him to send them a message. The man says he is to chocked right now to remember but will try to come back later. He warns Adrian against seeking revenge, then asks to speak with Sirona.
Sirona returns to the room and sits down opposite the man, who tells her that he forgives her and hopes that she to can forgive herself. Sirona apologies for what he had to go through.
After Navarre leaves the party sits a bit unsure what to do. Jak asks what Sirona wants, and she just suggests that drink Jak talked about before. The bard immediately orders her two.
Going through his pockets and items to come up with something to do or say, Adrian finds the sending stone they got from Headmaster Ernas. He tries to send a message. It works. Adrian tells him that the group has located Kessemir and will try to capture him during the heist on the morning fo the 28th. Ernas replies that they will send someone.
