The Fake Out Robbery

February 25, 2021

As the group meet up for cards, they take a moment to address Adrain and Jak's argument. The men both promise to show more respect and consideration towards each other and be more forthcoming with plans of action and responsive to others' critic, given that criticism is not delivered as an insult and or death threats.
Perhaps not to anyone surprise, Irdien is the winner of the card game from her home country, but Labrat gives her a fair bit of competition.
At around seven o clock, the group is informed that a man is waiting downstairs to meet with them. Assuming it's Ernas, the group heads down only to find Navarre Norsandoral, the elven man from yesterday. Sirona immediately relocates to the back of the group and tries to be out if sight. Upon noticing this, Jak puts a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Navarre gives Adrian the location of the Drop off point. It's behind a loose brick next to a specific servant entrance to the Casino. Since Navarre can't think of anything to ask for in return for this information, Adrian tells him to forward any future requests to Tarkett or the Maulitz estate. After he leaves, Sirona asks about it. Adrian explains that he thinks perhaps they can leave a false trail. Sirona gets nervus that it will have the opposite effect and point the cult towards Tarkett, but Jak says that might be unavoidable.
The group sits down for dinner to wait for Headmaster Ernas in the VIP room. They discuss how far away Tarkett is, and it's really not that far. There is a town nearby Shadowport on the way that they can reach in two days of travel.
When Master Artificer Ernas arrives, he joins them at their table, and Adrian fills him in on the plan to capture Kessemir. Ernas gives them a pair of Dimitrium shackles meaning that the group now has two. Labrat gets to guard this second pair as she was not hampered by their power. The group are informed that Ernas will be close by to make sure that the Cassiono becomes a no teleport zone to prevent Kessemirs escape.
Sirona asks Ernas if he can explain what happened to Adrian when he touched the shackles, but Ernas has only heard of people with artificial organs having problems like that. They speculate briefly about the possibility of having Dimitrium inside a human body. Still, since the monster that injured Adrian at his graduation wasn't wielding a blade, it's hard to see that as likely.
When Ernas mentions that Kessemir will be trial and executed, Sirona tries to inquire if there are other options. Ernas is not interested in discussing any alternatives. He means that necromancy is dangerous and that killing them partitioner is the safest way. Jak gets a little nervous then he hears that.
As the group won't get to sleep in tomorrow, they all get ready for bed early. Irdien visits Sirona in her room, returning the borrowed book. She gives her a short poem that she suggests that Sirona can use to replace the first page since it contains a birthday greeting from Ilgron. Sirona gets moved to tears, and they have a brief therapeutic talk about some of Sirona's fears.
Before dawn, the group is ready to move out. While preparing, they are informed that people are downstairs waiting. Jak sneaks down to see who it is this time. It's Garados Kessemir, together with two safeguarding defenders. He teleports himself and the group to a high up balcony at the Casino.
Upon arriving on the other side of the teleportation spell, a guard instantly spots them through a window. Adrian runs inside and tells the present men to leave immediately if they don't wish to be harmed. His words hit as two of the guards get up and go, but a third rush him. Adrian swiftly knocks him unconscious with the blunt side of his axe. Jak takes the direct approach and breaks the window the first guard spotted them through. Sirona follows Adrian inside and, upon seeing the scene by the window, send an icy javelin at the guard. Labrat jumps through a window herself and releases a breath of lighting before striking him with her sword. He is hurt and barely standing. At this point, a new guard runs inside and throws a knife at L. It mises and embeds itself in the wall. Kessemoir, who has moved up behind Sirona in the corridor, kills the guard with a spell. Sirona tells him that he can't do that, but Kessemir scornfully disagrees. Irdien Jumps in after Labrat and knocks the first guard unconscious leaving the group inside the first room without any more guards to fight.
